Mopar used to stock a what they called a 'heavy duty race block', correct? Maybe I dreamed this up, but it had forged main caps?? Anybody know anything about it?

I've seen the blocks listed on LRE's site:

Direct Connection Engine Blocks
Heavy duty castings, unmachined (blueprint available). [$100.00]

The caps are listed seperate:
Billet Steel Main Bearing Caps (set)
Often required when horsepower exceeds 230 HP; center main caps have broken in 220 HP naturally aspirated engines. [$775.00]
MP Billet Steel Main Bearing Caps
[$258.06]

They hardly answer their phone anymore and probaly don't have a lot in stock anymore. Lot's of our cars are running great without them and without problems
Here's the old number's anyways
The old DC part number for the block is P4286829
The old DC main steel cap numbers are P4286770 ea.(1,2,4,5)
P4286771 (3)
The newer MP #'s on the caps are P5249004 ea.(1,2,4,5)
P5249005 (3)
P5249006 (set)

If you want the billet steel main caps, Matt on this board has a new set he was selling very reasonably.

Hope this helps

Thanks GLHS636, it's appreciated. I had seen those forged main caps in the LRE website too, and in fact that was the first place I looked to see if I could find a race block. What's up the LRE?? Why don't they seem to be interested in their own business anymore? I'd love to contact the owner and buy some of those brake upgrades, but if they don't answer the phone at all like you say, how can I?

I'm not a 100% sure but I believe they were really into it pre-turbo era. I beleive it was a scca thing too. I could be wrong. They continued but not at the full extenant as before. You could and try Gary D., He's got a banner on his website for them and might be in touch (or more able) with them. I know I could them about a header flange about a 1 1/2 years ago and they got back to me 2-3 months later. Good luck
