Ok, I have decided to get the engine rebuilt before I go and put it in the car. Now if I just get a rebuild and a port&polish with back cut valves and 3 angle valve job, would the engine hold 14 PSI? I know that at some point I will need forged pistons I just need to get an opinion.

2.2 TII or 2.5 TI?

Both will hold 14 psi without breaking a sweat. The 2.5's can start having issues around 20 psi on stock pistons, while on a 2.2 you can get well into the 20's before needing new pistons.

If you have the money, get the forged pistons now. 2.5's are very detonation prone, and will crack a piston before you know it. At 14 psi stock pistons are fine, but you'll soon grow tired of 14 and want more!
