While assembling and painting my freshly machined block today, my buddy noticed a big warped bubble on the front of the block. Upon further inspection, it is a BIG warped bubble. It is just above the oil pump/distributor shaft and the timing belt idler pulley. Laying a straight edge across it really shows how bad it is. What is this? Is it going to be OK? Anyone seen that before?

are you talking about the side the timing belt sits on? that surface should be machined flat, maybee from a broken intermediate shaft or something in the past, was the block magnafluxed?? that doesn't sound good to me.

It's on the side with the timing belt...just above the intermediate shaft seal.

Don't know.....but will run it anyway I guess.
Too close to SDAC to do anything about it.
