That's only about $120 per rod. Not bad really. Crower can make you some...$150/rod and about 3 weeks lead time....

Greetings,
I wouldn't look too hard for eagle rods. We have quit using them altogether. Been using them on 496 Chevys in our boats and when the engine breaks, it's always the Eagle rod. Switched to Carillo and no problems.

The eagle rods are excellent rods for the 2.2/2.5 in applications up to 600 hp.
The price of $479, not only includes the rods, but also custom wrist pins sizes (your choice .866- .927) and includes a set of rod bearing as well.
later,
Cindy

Greetings Cindy,
Just got talking to you about parts for Rampage. You know your stuff! The rods may work for 2.2, but in our application they couldn't hold up. 850 hp min. 6500 rpms for 4 mile min. circle boat race.

LOL, yea for 850+ hp I would use a crower or pauter rod for sure. But you'll never get that out of an 8v 2.2/2.5 so we're pretty safe with a 600 hp rod.

Yeah, but FM doesn't really support the TD crowd anymore(not to mention I don't particularly like them after meeting them in person)...I'd rather support those that support us!!

Well yeah maybe ,but $179? that's tough to turn down-why doesn't FWD lower their prices? Eagles can't really cost that much that's close to Crower and Eagles are from China.

The last time I checked(back in 2001) Crower rods were $150 EACH. That comes to $600 plus shipping...seems to me the Eagles are still less, even through FWD....

4Daytonas is correct--the Eagle rods are made in China, though I believe the finish work is done in the USA (used to be anyways.) I have seen some Eagle products hold up and some that don't. The problem, I believe, is their quality control is lacking. There seems to be fluctuations in the quality of the steel/castings. You never know what you are going to get. High quality rods cost money, but I think we can all agree that the lower end is a particularly critical part of an engine. If you are sinking serious money into an engine to produce 400+ hp, why would you roll the dice to save a few bucks, particularly when a couple hundred dollar savings could potentially cost you the entire engine. In the end, of course, it is your money and your decision.

Well if you don't believe in competition then I guess you'd buy them at $600 because they "support" the hobby? I doubt it.Why do most people shop Wal-Mart----------Price for the same item.

then buy the damn things from foward motion and see what service you get!!!!! make sure you are comparing apples to apples (ie what they give you as oppossed to what she gives.) wrist pin sizing is included with hers which is not inexpensive or free.

wal mart is a ass load larger than one person supporting overhead , payroll, insurance so why badger someone to lower their price. the margins on this stuff is short.
