I can pick up a Jasper block for 1100 dollars...Ive read some scary stories on here about the Jasper engines as a whole, but most of the problems seem to be on the top part of the motor. Are the black total crap from Jasper as well?

I would be interested to know whether they consider common blocks interchangable with older blocks. Be sure to ask lots of questions and get anything they tell you in writing.

I'm 99% sure they use the serial numbers on the parts (block, crank, rods, etc.) so a common block would get you a common block.

Doesn't Jasper use hyperuetic (sp) pistons in the 2.2/2.5 motors? If so, I'd stay away from it. No need for an $1100 paperweight in your garage.

Appropriate locations would be engine- general or vendor.

I would not buy a motor from anyone. Get a machine shop you can trust. Buy the parts YOU want (not what they decide to put in) and have it made. It's actually cheaper this rout even if you go with forged pistons.

Why would anyone buy one when they could have one made that is better... Just food for thought.

i would say it should go in the TECH-ENGINE-BLOCK section, i don't think we would get a response from a Vendor such as Jasper..

acutally here at my work we have Jasper as one of our accounts and deal with them all the time, next time I have a meeting with them or there rep is in, i'll ask him.
