Has anyone pushed the T2 rods to the buckling point, preferably on the dyno? Seems like the highest power level I've seen on T2 rods is around 550hp.. Anyone been higher? At what power level do they buckle? There's a post around here somewhere where someone took stock SRT4 rods to 628hp before they buckled. I'm curious if someone has done similar with T2 rods. I read that T2 rods are 100 grams heavier than SRT4 rods, and I've been told that "T2 rods are not stronger than SRT4 rods".. Well they LOOK stronger, to me.. I doubt they are weaker.. Those "cracked" caps on the SRT4 rods freak me out..

Nobody knows? The engine just flat blows up before the rods do? :)

Yeah, I probably will.. I was just trying to make a point in another forum, but can't find any reference to where those rods finally give out.. :)

thats probably because anyone looking to keep their motor in 1 piece at the 4-500+HP levels most likely opted for aftermarket rods

im running stock TII rods with arp but the car will only see low-mid 400whp at most

Eh, seems I've seen several of the early Hybrid motors blow the cylinder walls open. I'd say it's more likely that the common block can't make enough power to damage the rods. I'm planning to run TII rods in my 2.4 next season. I'm using the N/A 2.4 rods (same as 2.0 rods, aside from the bearing area) right now at 265whp.. ;) I do love to keep things cheap.. :)

if im not mistaken before relentless went out of business they had a video on their site showing a dyno pull and they broke a stock rod at 444hp or something like that...but casting issues can raise or lower that number and the mileage of the motor has something to do with ittoo

I'm converting my turbo van to a DOHC 2.0, so I was thinking about using the 2.5 turbo rods from that thing.. They have a quarter million miles on them.. ;) Work hardened? :) heh, that's what shotpeening is supposed to be good for, relieving the stress.

Is shadow running stock rods at 480whp? I know he isn't using a commonblock.

If you really need the parts to hold, get them mag'ed.

Magnafluxing is just going to find cracks. So yeah, it's a good idea, but if it doesn't find any, you can't say Magnafluxing is what made them last.. ;) Shotpeening does sound like a good idea though. And maybe even Cryo treating.

That's the whole point of it. Stress cracks are usually what does old parts in. If they're fatigued, shotpeening isn't going to make that go away.
