I kind of brought this up in another post, but there hasn't been any reply. I thought I'd make it a new thread in hopes of getting feedback.

Let's say I have some TIII (FORGED) pistons. I know that the valve reliefs are wrong for a TII, BUT can I have a machine shop cut the reliefs for a 8 valve head and use them in a 2.2? After all, these are forged, and they can be gotten fairly cheaply used.

Hmmmmm. OK. I'll likely go with the Mahle cast. I don't expect to take the boost past 24psi and I'll be running an 8v head.

I suppose I could put a TIII head on it and use the pistons. Has this been done?

Following the questions in this string...

I'd like to know more specifically or detailed the differences here.

Example: In a common block engine, with 2.2 crank and 782 head...using the T3 piston in place of stock.

What would the compression rise in that be, from stock T2??

Would there be interference between the valves and piston??

Also...

Is there an increase in the compresion height of the T3 piston from the T2 piston (from center of wrist pin to top of crown)??

Thus the reason for increased compression ratio, and there not being a dished crown like T2 or 2.5 mahles.

Thanks in advance
Jeremy
