Ok guy, I got a 94 TBI common block that I have had the oil return machined and im going to order a forged crank and pistons for it.

But what i need to know is, can I use the rods from my 84 turbo1 in this common block?

Thanks
Chris

The rods will fit the block and crank, yes.

Stock TII (assuming "forged crank" means you're using TII stuff) pistons have floating pins, while the '84 rods use a pressed pin.

You're either gonna have to get pistons for a pressed pin (going to a bigger pin would be a good idea at the same time since you're doing the machine work anyway. I think it's a Chevy .912" pin that's commonly used) or have the rod drilled/bushed for floating pin.

I'd go for pressed, bigger pin.

Thanks for the reply

Im still thinking of just using my 84 block, with a forged crank, and forged pistons.

Its still up in the air.

they dont have a bigger pin. Per means replace the stock .900" pin with an aftermarket FORD () pin at .912" and have the small end of the rod machined out to the proper diameter to have the new bigger pin pressed in. edit: as far as machining the the pressed pin rod for a floating pin bushing.....do the heavierweight older rods have enough meat up there for that removal of metal. i have a T2 rod and a LW rod here on my desk and the LW rod doesnt look to have enough extra meat up there to bore it to the proper size for the bushing. jsut a thought. anyone with experience on this? thanks :end of edit
