Hello,

has anyone taken a set of 84 rods (beefy pressed pin) and machined out the small end for a bushing for floating pin pistons?

is there enough beef to bore them out for the bushing? if no one has ill be holding them up side by side to a t2 to determine. thanks

Brian

The best rods to use are the TII ones (which require a floating pin piston) or the 81-85 2.2 rod (which do not). Basically the same rod except no bushing for a floating pin
From DDG.

I guess that means you can bore them out for the bushing, although I would just use the TII rods if you have them sitting around.

yeah i saw that...this isnt for my k car....this is for my glh...i have a LW rod and a T2 rod on my desk at work and the LW looks questionable for machining....however i havent cracked the L bodys motor yet to check out the older rod small end to see. if its similar to the T2 in size then ill be machining and doing a quick cheap used part (plus new rings and bearings and some seals) rebuild for my glh. the k car is much closer to being done though! :big grin:
