Ok, I am on my third rebuild in 3 years and the last one was a rod bearing/low oil pressure failure after only 150 miles! I have had the block completely rebuilt with all new parts, all clearances and machine work done by a reliable machine shop. The oil restrictor is in place, the pump is a new Melling high volume (the second one) and when I drive the oil pressure at cold is about 1/2 up the gauge (all new sending units) and drops to one line above the minimium when at idle and warm. It never goes above 1/2 and is much lower when warm regardless of RPM. I don't want a repeat of the last rebuild, I changed the oil after 20 miles and there was copper (very small) in it, not sure if it was left from last time or not. The car runs great, but I don't want to chance it again!!! I think the oil pressure should be higher! Please Help!

first things first.. get a real gauge with #'s on it.. the stock gauge is JUNK. Get some #'s on oil pressure and start from there.

Thanks Guys, it's good to know that it is normal. The original motor always ran 1/2 to 3/4 up the gauge all the time.

car sounds great....needs good oil guage

just a few thoughts...try a bosch oil filter...with anti drain back valve....that actualy works.

second..open up screen area on a stock oil pump and maybe get more volume flowing...i thought stock pump was good enough???..also make sure passages are clean.

run valvoline...why use synthetic if you only get 150 miles from rebuild

try easing in the next break in period....unhook boost for 500 miles.....

like at least 500 miles before ya hammer it..

good luck
