Yes, those are the old pieces for the early blocks since they were unstable at high rpm's (8000+), common block motors don't require them.

Not required unless you are buzzing a non-common block engine to 8000 rpm.

Didn't you say that for 500 whp custom main caps would be needed? I know these things arent that strong, in fact I thought they were just common block parts, but it would add a little strength to a non common block.

You were measuring the need for one with HP and the need for the other with RPM, what gives?

1) Don't recall making that statment.

2) The non-common block is very unstable at high rpm and hp levels and rpm is a greater stress on the lower end then hp is.

I'll be honest with you it I doubt it will- chances are the job will require custom 4 bolt main caps and billet rods and other changes to the shortblock.. and extensive mods to the cylinder head.
This was in this thread: Neon head swap thread after some questions about a 500 hp package you mentioned.

Yes, but you I thought you were talking about the 500 hp SOHC package you had mentioned. Was I misreading the post?

Regardless, I am interested in getting more info about some 4 bolt caps. Has anyone had these made before? How about a hint on some that might work from a different engine?
