That would probably be pointless and screw up your hone (you did mean adding extra headbolts, right?)

Extra headbolts as you call them if improperly placed may alter how the head sits on the block, unevenly torqued basically, or head warpage

Its not to hard to go from 10mm to 11mm head bolts. Make a jig or use a drill press (mill would be ideal), drill out the 10mm holes. (I found the size bit to use for the 11mm and went a couple of thousands smaller ~.002). Tap with 11mmX1.5. USE PLENTY OF LUBE WHEN TAPPING and be sure to back out a couple FULL turns after every new full turn to clean out the shavings. Use the 11mm torque specs.

Use head studs. ARP makes them and they are dirt cheap. I paid $100 canadian and you don't have to replace them every head job plus you have that added clamping force. 26 psi and so far so good!!!!!!!!

"thumbs up

I will tell you 1 thing. I read about it over at thedodgegarage.com. I think it was the 5digits article. A major improvment and reason the turbo II's could handle more boost was due to the crossdrilling of the head and block, which enable cooler headgasket temps, and temps between the cylinders. Some people think its not worth the time, but I've seen more headgaskets go out on turbo 1's than 2's. 5digits says the crosdrilling is good for a 150F drop on the head gasket temp between the cylinders. So if anything will allow more boost it's gonna be crossdrilling. The 11mm bolts go hand in hand with this, as they are supposed to spread the clamping force more, creating a better seal. In a nutshell it makes for less head gasket blowing possibility. I was gonna have another head I have crossdrilled at 1 point, it doesn't cost crap for them to drill some holes.

It seems that my Turbo 1 is crossdrilled in my 89 Van, stock unless mine is a rare one. I have run it all summer with no overheating and 26 psi of boost. I have 15,000 kms and no problems yet, knock on wood, , lol

They made quite a few x-drilled t1's they were only commonblocks and 782 casting heads if I'm correct
