I need a source for main cap bolts that is reasonable in price for an '89 2.5 turbo. The ARP studs list as being for non-common block engines only. The dealer price(with work discount) is $16.94 EACH! Half of my bolts have stretched and torque to only 60-75 ft-lbs while the other ones are 90-93 ft-lbs. I don't have $170 to spend on only 10 bolts; although I would spend the $70 or so for the ARP studs if I could use them. Any help or insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

FWD performance sells ARP main studs. It says for non common block, but I'm building a common block and people I ask say they will work. I even asked cindy at FWD performance and she said all I have to do is not screw the 6 middle bolts all the way in so that enough thread is protuding to allow for the nut to be put on. They should work just fine and for $59 I think theý'll be worth the money. I've heard that if you use the ARP main studs though you will have to get the block line bored. I'm no expert in cars and I'm getting a machine shop to do the work, so I'm just letting you know. Go to the ARP homepage to look up the applications because those FWD performance sells are the same ones. ARP homepage has lots of good info. GOOD LUCK.
