What year(s) oil pans can interchange?

Can a '88 T2 oil pan fit a '88 T1?

Will a '85 T1 fit a '88 T1?

Are common bolck pans different than (un)common blocks?

the 88 turbo pans are the same. I'm not sure about the earlier pans.

As I understand it the only pans that will not interchange are common vs non-common block pans. I have not compared them side to side but that's what I've been told my many reputable sources.

Common block pans are wider. The housing for the front bearing was changed and that added two more bolts to common blcok pans and widened them. Let me check some pics I have of my old 2.2 t2 non common block pan and the current non turbo non common block 2.2 pan I have sittin in the garage and I'll let you know.
