'85 is probably the best 2.2 T1, because of the strong rods. 300 HP is about the max recommended for the pre common blocks.

How about the 84 T1?

The '84 has the OK rods, really its the same internally as the '85. The electronics in the '84 cars are different and the turbo is different. I can't remember what is different about the turbo right now.
