Here's a pic showing the restrictor in an '89 block.

Upper right and lower left corners show different angles.

Notice how there's a notch in the restrictor.

Thank you Per. I now know that my block doesnt have the restrictor. could that cause what sounds like my slight rod knock??

I suppose it's possible. The restrictor keeps the valve cover from filling up with 4 qts of oil, leaving only drops for the bottom end.

That's typically only a problem at high rpm's, though.

All turbo blocks should have them, at least anything other than the first couple years ('84 and '85).

You may also find them in (some) N/A blocks, even though they were never meant to be put in them.
