I have my Daytona down for a rebuild, and realized it doesn't have an oil restrictor. The block is stock and original...although it has been rebuilt before. Maybe I lost it then? I've always had fine oil pressure, but am wondering if I should add the restrictor now while it's apart? This is on a 88 Shelby Z 2.2L TII

My 2.5L in my OMNI has the restrictor.

Did all blocks have the restrictor, or just certain one's? Is there a website with this info?

Not sure about the years.. I'll see if I can scrape up any info. All I do know is that when I took my motor apart, Gary had noticed that the restrictor was missing. I have always had oil pressure problems since the rebuild. Guess it either got lost or something. When we freshened it up, a restrictor got tossed in, and now I can run nice 10-30 oil and have the oil pressure of 15-50. Just a personal testimonial.

All turbo blocks are supposed to have the restrictor (at least in '88).

N/A blocks were not supposed to have them, but to avoid confusion on the assembly line, they put them in those too.

The restrictor is in the oil feed hole in the block that feeds the head.

I installed the restrictor anyway. Not sure if it ever had one or not. I never had oil pressure problems, but who knows. Guess it can't hurt.

I don't have a picture, but can explain it. As the block sits in the engine bay with the head removed, you can look to the driver side, and towards the front of the car. You will see a hole, that is a b*stard hole. This is the oil feed to the head. There should be a cup shaped piece in this hole, with a smaller hole drilled in it. It looks about like a small freeze plug with a little hole drilled in it. That is the oil restrictor.

Brian,

Your dodge dealer should be able to get a couple for you.

You clear on where it is now, drivers side front corner, right at the corner... when you pull the head, it will become verry clear.

Thanks for clearing it up Ken....

They are $3.25 a piece. Your dodge dealer should be able to get a couple for you.

Here is a picture of my block.

Are you be able to see it in this pic?

-Bryan

Please no comments on the condition of the pistons, or the extra metal around the top of the cylinder.

Thanks,

Yeah I see the oil hole and I knew where it was at but I dont know what the restrictor itself looks like. The headbolt hole closest to the oil passage looks wierd though....
