are there any real advantages to starting with a turbo block? i have one of each and plan on building one of them up over the winter so that i can swap it into my omni when the motor that is in it goes.

Are they commonblocks, or early 'tall deck' 2.5L blocks? Is your Omni a GLHT or TBI, carbed? Intended useage? More info will help.

If you start with a turbo block, you already have all the major parts you need. It's less of a hassle. The N/A common blocks I've seen have wimpy rods and aren't cross drilled. I started with a 2.5 N/A block because it was all I could find at the time. I had to purchase rods and a crank (I needed a 2.2 crank). I also had to drill the turbo oil return hole.

if it's just the block it's self you'll just need too drill and tap the coolant fitting barb on the back of the block, and then drill out the turbo oil return line fitting boss
