turbovan,

I did not steal youre thread!!

My point is there is not enough money in a block that is properly built.

A block that is fully built would cost over 1700.00

No turbo guy would spend that money.(why not just buy a junkyard motor for $250.00)

I am not going to step on youre toes!!

You pay freight ill ship you all the blocks you can handle

You make all the money

I thought I would mention too that I am talking about a Professionally rebuilt block.

I would not be doing the work, and it would not be being done at a machine shop.

The work would be done by an Engine shop. That is all he does.
Mostly builds engines for serious racers, he just so happens to be a few blocks from my house.

There would be no warranty, just like every other race shop.

Are you trying to tell people if they order a rebuid from me it will be a crappy rebuild because of the cost??
If so, I think that is a very rude thing for you to do and you should refer to the forum rules in regards to posting about people's prices.

Here, let me refresh your memory:

"Prices
Don't like one, DO NOT USE A SELLERS THREAD to voice your opinion. You DO NOT have the right. The buyers will do that with their wallets."

Since you guys are such experts, can you tell me what a good rebuild is versus a NAPA one?

Tell me what clearance would be on both cases, what bearings you would use, what you would do to the rods, crank etc...

Most of the basics are the same with a NAPA or a Jasper, or any good rebuild. It is the details that change. For example, ask the rebuilder at NAPA (if yours has a rebuild shop like mine does) what the main bearing clearance is and you will get a blank stare. Ask a good engine shop the same question and they will be able to tell you what it is on each bearing.

There is a HUGE difference in the build quality of a "rebuilt engine" and a "race built engine". The engines being discussed in this thread are suppesed to be of the "race build" variety, and sound like they would be worth the money easily.

As somebody once said, if you build a car, pick any two of the following three you want to have:

Fast
Cheap
Reliable

I'm currently looking for somebody to build me a shortblock for my 16 valve Masi project. I'd love to do it myself, but I'll be honest and say I don't think I have the experience, and I'd hate to invest all the money and learn a few lessons the hard way on an engine ment to be a serious performer.

I think you want this:

Fast and Cheap = Not Reliable
Cheap and Reliable = Not Fast
Fast and Reliable = Not Cheap

I'm not sure why I can't quote anybody, but yes Bryan, that's exactly what I was trying to get at.

And to Terry, I usually know my limits! =o)

Byron.

I am not a rude person .I did not intend to bash you or youre product

People that know me, would tell you that.

I cant make that statemet . I do not know or have seen a "short block" from youre rebuilder . and I have not seen his equipment he uses.
