can i leave the block in the car and remove the crankshaft? I am wondering if I pulled the tranny and the flywheel, can this be accomplished. I really don't have the time to go through and completely remove all the accessories and then the motor. Or is it simply easier to go ahead and pull the block in order to remove the crankshaft? thanks..chris

well, i suppose if you wire everything up to keep the block from dropping on you, it's POSSIBLE to pull the crankshaft that way, but how exactly were you planning on putting it back in without without screwing up your crank journals or bearings? *begin my opinion*that thing is pretty heavy, really, and i've only felt the cast cranks. i think that pulling the tranny is way harder than pulling the motor and tranny together, and once you consider putting the inside of your motor back together IN THE CAR, well, it might actually save you time to just pull the whole **** thing. pulling these motors really isn't hard. just ask ken *end my opinion*

drop the motor and trans as a unit.most people can have it out as an assembly in a couple of hours.much easier than fighting with it in the car, cranks get heavier when you are laying on your back.
