how big can you bore?

I have a 50 over bore 2.2 turbo 2 block and was wondering how much you can safely bore without worring, i plan on running around the 300hp mark, thanks

P.s I,ve seen rings bigger than 75 over for our cars

I don't know the general safe max overbore but it may be worth it to get the block sonic checked if you're close to that figure. If the cylinder walls are too thin they will flex and the rings won't seat correctly.

i wouldn't waste time or money boring to gain displacement, think about the a 350 chev .030 over only nets 5 cubic inces and a 400 chevy .030 over gets you 6 cubes. so with our tiny bores you would net 2 cubes or so.

.060 is what I've always thought is the max. I'd personally stop at .040 over, because pistons/rings are easy to get in that size and there are no real gains to be had going bigger.

I'd say that going bigger with a heavier piston might even hurt in some way.

i agree, dont overbore any more than the minimum needed.
keep the cylinder walls as thick as possible...
