I just broke 2.5 tbi engine, but I cant recognize is it common or tall block. Guys who sold said its 89 made, but main bearings has 88 stamp...Block is market with big C on side...pistons are quite low crown...so it should be common? What is best way to determine?
Thanks,- Andrius.

There will be a fuel pump block-off plate bolted to the front of the block (this is from the old carburetted cars) on 88-earlier blocks (I'm not positive on the Tall Blocks though... should be though). This is down beside the aternator, there will be 2 bolts holding the plate on if it has one.

The 89+ blocks don't have a block off plate and it's simply plugged/welded or something, hehe.

Check thedodgegarage.com under Turbo Database... they should have all the ID info you need.

thanks, that site is very usefull. I recognised it as common, because my tona 2.2 has those bolts, so that is old style one.
Another strange stuff i find out - is that rings, first and second has no gaps on it! It is very unusual for europen vehicle, is it common for american? Those rings looks absolutely identic, has no any marks on it except one little o-shaped groove maching rings bottom side...
Seems Im not first who does something with that block...also air filter appeared to be K&N...Pistons worn a bit, bearings perfect.
LW rods with pressed pins...What about aluminium ones to replace it? Does anybody make them? How much are they in ave?
151 mm ones?
