Has anybody ever try to partially fill the block on the older 88 down motors for added strength to the block???

uhhh, just one pont to consider....the coolant inlet from the water pump is at the bottom of the water jacket. so is the coolant feed line to the turbo...

partially filled....with a compound called Hard Bloc. drag racers sometimes use it to improve the rigidity of the block. but its only typically used to fill the lower half of the water jacket, on a street engine. any more than that could cause overheating problems. most V6 and V8 engines have thier water inlets at the top of the block, ours have them at the bottom......which creates a slight problem with using a block filler......

I thought the turbo hoses were like 1/2 way up the block. I don't know about the water pump port. That wouldn't be to good to close off. I'll have an old 86 block out here in a few days. I'll have to investigate a little further. I really don't want to spend the money on this block if it's going to come apart on me. My son and I would like to build a 12 sec. Laser and that is going to take all of 300 h.p. min to do that I would believe.

Maybe put in a teflon coated (or something that this stuff won't adhere to) stick to block off the area of the jacket where the feed holes are? So you'd have one section of it that's not filled in at all.

Yea, when I get this block out I'll check it out. I wonder if one of my 2.2 books has a cut away view of the cooling system or the block with the cooling/oil system shown.
