block simiilarity of 84 non-turbo to 86 GLHS block

well there is a dirt cheap new yorker non turbo and i was wondering how similar the block is to the turbo block from an 86 Omni GLHS. even though the 84 is a non-turbo, can it be a replacement for my Omni? thanks, chris

It can be done. You have to drill holes and tap things. But it can be done. I wouldn't.

oh well, if it was a simple pull and drop the engine then yes. thanks for the info.

Nope, very much not simple. You'd have to pull the pistons and swap them also. Which would mean new rings and honing the cylinders..
