my brother(special k) has been telling me that he would like to put a 3000gt engine in an aries. i was wondering if it would take years of mods to put a 30000gt quad cam twin turbo in a 88' daytona.

It would probably be the biggest nightmare you ever had. 1st of all, the engine is opposite to the 3.0 v6 engines in the Daytona's (i.e.; the front of 3000 engine is on the driver side of the engine bay and on the passenger side on a Daytona), therefore the routing of the exhaust would be opposite and would have to be custom. The 3000 has three catalatic converers (one pre-cat off of each manifold and then a main cat under the center of the car). Then when turning the engine/trans around, the trans output would be towards the front. I don't think the any Dodge trannys will bolt up to the Mitsu 3.0 block (not positive on this). You would also loose the ability to use the AWD feature when you turn the engine/trans around. If you tried to install it in the same attitude as the 3000 with the front to the drivers side, you would have a lot of custom building to remove the Daytona K frame and fab a way of making the whole front ass'y of the 3000 fit under the Daytona.
FWI, Just to let you know where I am thinking from, I have a Dodge Stealth R/T TT and (3) 93 Daytona's in my garage and driveway. The Stealth R/T TT & 3000GT are great cars when they are running, but when something goes wrong, they are a BIG money pit.
It is a nice dream, but unless you have a lot of $$$'s & a lot of fabrication resources, it will loose it's gleam before you can finish it. IMHO

Uh, if you turned the engine around, I'm pretty sure the wheels would turn backwards...

Of course, you could go really fast in reverse...

Go to one of the other forums here. Somebody is talking to a guy that has a 3000GT TT engine in an Omni. I think it's under turbo and buried in one of those topics. Maybe the really long twin turbo thread.

It would make for some wicked cool Magnum P.I. style turns though!

Remember the opening to the show.... Maybe I'm just too old.

i know that there is a guy that has put one in his daytona mated to a A-543 tranny and using a single turbo and what i believe to be a custom fuel management system(?). There is an omni with a V6 but I cant remember if that was our sohc or if it was the dohc w/ or w/o the turbo.

untrue. they spin the same directions as our 2.2/2.5 and most importantly our 3.0L. since they are the same block as our 3.0L you can place them in the engine bay just like the 3.0L sohc. what mitsubishi had to do to make them spin the 'right direction' was to add an extra intermidiate shaft. of course they have always done this so its not like they had to do something special. all dsms are like this also.

see the below pictures:

you should definitely do it! it wouldn't be that hard, alot of things will have to be custom made and expensive, but once it's made it's just a matter of bolting it in the car. if you pay me i'll build it for you.
