What 151mm rods are the best for racing engine? Aluminium, I guess? If so, where can I purchase them? Or maybe its worth looking for steel rods? What difference in price vs. strenght steel to alluminium?
Regards
Andrius

aluminum are typically very expensive compared to forged steel. i don't think they would make aluminum rods for these engines so it will probably be a custom piece. forged steel is a little stronger than billet aluminum but aluminum will bend more often than breaking, which can save expensive block machining or replacement associated with broken rods. titanium are best for racing engines although it is often more expensive than most people can afford. forged steel rods will work just fine for most applications up to the 900-1000 hp levels (v8), 450-500 hp (I4).

We sell aluminum race rods too. These are high quality GRP rods, not those cheap eagle rods. GRP says they are good up to 800 hp
They are $549 a set, but do include a set of special rod bearings.

If you want to stick with a "steel" rod or plan on driving it on the street alot
Pauter makes an excellent chromoly rod
Very strong, custom done to your specs,
Mine are longer then factory 2.5 tall deck rods yet lighter !
I've been running them for 5+ years know

Yeah those looks nice too. There are also titanium rods sold for 5.5 hundred per piece....Not cheap. Crome moly is good material for rod I think, Im not going to push my 2.5 common over 300 hp, so it should be ok. Its interesting how much they'll ask for set... I need stock 151 size, pins I can keep the same, can I?

Looks like our 5.945 rods are same size as neon SRT-4? Is the crankshaft pin diameter same? Maybe there are more interchangable rods, what can be used for 2.5/2.2 block?
