how much hp/tq can a stock t2 rod take

like it says im debating on after market rods for my omni or not.ive heard good and bad things about the aluminum rods.i know our rods can take over 400hp does anyone think they can handle more around 500hp.

Yes. Have them polished to reduce any tendancies to crack.

Polishing and shot peening are different things. I believe that shot peening is basically shooting the rods with round media meant to help compress the material and make it stronger. Polishing on the other hand should strengthen the rod by reducing the stress risers caused by the surface.

that's what shot peening does, i didn't realize people were still using polishing for that purpose as well.

i know of a few people that have cracked the 500hp level and they snap a stock T-2 rod.. no matter what you got done to it.

that what i was looking for if its iffy at all im not gonna use them.i dont want aluminum i cant remeber what the other kind was

You have several options... Check out the many aftermarket rods made for the 2.4 DOHC Mopar 4 cyl, as those rods can be used in our engines.

hmmm i looked some and found alot of eagles for 350 titanium for 2300 and aluminum for 700 i beliave those were crowers does anyone know a good site to look at maybi better prices.and a wider selection that the sites i seen

no you got the smaller rods there the light weigh ones.i beliave some people have ran 300hp on them

300hp on LW rods? Yikes....

I've personally pulled apart three STOCK log manifold T-I cars with broken LW rods.
