this thread is really good.. i'm enjoying myself... very good debates... maybe at sdac we can all sit around crack a beer and complain about rods, then hit the track for some "who can break a rod first"

Carnage at sdac is great! the best things:

1. "What happens to a rod" by Gary D.
2. "Fatique of a 413 intermidiate shaft" by Brian Slowe
His oncore was "Missing Hood Pins, and cracked Helmet"
3. "JB Weld and Head Cracks" by Seth
4. "Missing teeth and two gear sets" by Jon

Any other carnage besides some of us working all night on Andy's tranny?

while we are at it....

dont forget about the airbags, the piston in the tire game, beavis and butthead running around, parking lot burnouts, and beer shotguns.

I supplied them with my specs, though they said they had or could easily get the specs
I'll have to dig my spec card out but the length is close to a 2.5 tall deck rod, standard cut on the crank journal and bushed for a full floating ford wrist pin
I also liked the Pauter's because of the cracked cap design (another argument in it's own but I feel they help keep the caps from walking ) and they have a unique rod design (not sure if you've actually seen one of their rods, I'll check for some pics) that helps cut down on weight and windage while adding strength
When I recieved them they didn't need any further machining nor balancing

They don't have any 2.2 ready to go but
if enough people start ordering them , I'm sure they'll stock them like the VW'S , DSM'S and Honda's they have

Anybody want to discuss how much I think JE's SUCK?????

I found out that 2nd gear doesn't like it when the front pump stops working

or how about crossing the stripes with the E-brake on by Marra

Won't hear me disagreeing with you on this one at all. Althougth they work fine in some applications like all things. Other wise I wouldn't have a Tony Schumacher JE piston and aluminum rod on my desk.

Techincally its Pounds-mass....

the lbs you are thinking of is lbs-f, or Pounds-Force, which is Pounds-Mass * G, in the negative Y direction, for a stationary object, ie weight.

Not to beat a dead horse, but actually "slug" is the measurement of mass in english units, Lbs is a measurement of force. slugs * g=lbs.

And since moparboy is not sharing his block choice, and it seems its not a 2.2 or 2.5, my guess is he spent the big bucks and bought that mopar performance 3.0 block that the pro fwd boys were using. I have no idea whether that will bolt up to our trannys or not, but that combo definitally would rock.

either is correct. lbs-mass is what was used through my entire career at Purdue, in engineer school.... except for one or two 'older' profs who used slug on the rare occasion.

no FWD tranny will bolt up.. you need to get a custom trans bell housing made onto one of our trannys which really isn't THAT bad.

I am not sure if the Mopar 3.0 and the Pontiac have similar perfomance capabilities, but I saw a Pontiac 3.0L 4 banger at the track running 8.0!
