i have a big problem:
have to remove the crankshaft sprocket...took the block to a friend at local chrysler store, and asked him to do that because i don't have the special tool to do so.

today i've been there and he told me, that this tool cannot be ordered anymore, and no one here has it. he will try to remove the sprocket without the tool, but can't guarantee me that it'll work.

so my question is now, does anyone of you have this tool? does anyone of you sell it?
or do you know a store where i can buy it? for how much is it?

or is there another way to remove the crank sprocket without this tool??

these are the partnumbers, i have of the tool
C-4685, C-4685-B2 and C-4685-C2

thanks a lot guys!

special tool: wrench with correct size socket on it

method: get wrench snug, turn real fast as to loosen the bolt but not turn crank. May have to use a long piece of pipe or something to get more leverage

should help ya out, just dont strip it

I'm assuming you mean the timing belt sprocket and not the alt./ac pulley. I got an old pulley and attached it to the sprocket, then got long bolt that went into the threaded hole in the crank, make sure it bottoms out but the head still sits a good 2" off the pulley. Then just take a standard gear puller you can get anywhere, attach the arms on the outside of the pulley with the center on the bolt and start crankin, I've always had them pop right off. But make sure you use a pulley you dont need as it most likely will bend the lip.

I've pulled many of these off with no special tools. The only "special tool you need is a pulley. If you've got an 89 and up block just use a long breaker bar to loosen the bolt. Get someone to help if need be and use a crow bar or big screwdriver to wedge it up against the sprocket so it doesn't turn. That should work. Once the bolt is loosened pull it out. Use a puller, but make sure the middle bolt in the puller bottoms out in the crankshaft. Goodluck.

Well I see I am too late but I use power. Air power, take an impact gun and take the bolt off. Then take a gear puller, the type that bolts to the gear and some noise later the gear comes off nice and smooth. No need for you to hang on to anything but the gun!!!
