i'm rebuilding my 89 t2 engine
now i bought a 93 2.5 t1 and want to put my t2 in the 93 daytona

i spun my rod bearings at the t2, so crank needs to be turned.

now i was wondering if i can take the t1 crank and put it in the t2 block using the t2 rods and pistions?!

planned mods are:
s60 kit (incl. turbo, ecu,...)

this car will be used on street as well as on the strip, making as much hp/torque as possible with stock internals and lets say a max. boost of 20psi

what do you guys think? should i go with the turned t2 forged crank, or the t1 cast crank?

i really have no clue what to do

You need to get 2.5l pistons. The 2.5 crank is adding stroke so that means the pistons will be going up further in the cyl and going down further in the cyl, in other words the 2.2 pistons will pop out of the top of the block. U need short crown 2.5l pistons. Good luck. Might be easier to get another crank.

The 2.5 T1 crank needs 2.5 spec pistons. The T2 crank needs 2.2 spec pistons. The rods are common between both engines. Either crank will fit in either block, being that both engines are common block engines.

I didn't realize there was drag racing in Austria. Do you have any links to Austrian drag racing websites? I thought drag racing was pretty much limited to North American and Australia.

well, there isn't much over here. although there is a dragrace cup in hungaria, but nothing like top fueler and things like that.

we have big event here, guess what's it called -> race wars...twice a year
but sadly, just a few really fast cars (high 10's, 11's...)

a few other events are also here, but scene has just started growing, so we need muuuuch time to get to us-level...if we ever get to this

Andreas,

The S60 computer won't be a good choice; it's SMEC while your '93 is wired for SBEC. Lots of work with rewiring and there're far better calibrations than S60 out there... I'm using a 3 Bar Cal Innovations cal in my 2.5TII. Not 100% perfect, but pretty good.

Also to run true TII with an IC in your '93 'tona you should add air charge temp sensor wiring too.

so which ecu should i take for tII 2.2 in the '93 tona?
if i have to change the wiring harness for another ecu than the 2.5 from '93, then i'll go with my stock t2 cal or the s60.

for which ecu's can i use the wiring harness from the '93 WITH the tII 2.2? any ideas?

i'll run the tII IC for sure, don't worry

does a t2 have an air charge temp sensor? or isn't this a stock thing?

EDIT:
my questions about the crank are answered.
to avoid offtopic here, please help me out in this thread: 93 T1 -> 89 T2 conversion

thanks
