My headed it ported and so is my exhaust manifold and I have a 2.5" downpipe, no cat, 3" exhau. I guess all I really want to know is is it likely or just possible that my block or rods will fail at about 16-18psi

Anything is possible. Ken Adler responded in another thread on this topic he made 250hp and didn't have any problems with the rods. Others have had rod failures. You can always put T2 rods and pistons in if you're worried about that. I personally wouldn't worry about the block strength to 250hp, but that is just my opinion.

I have the 85 t1 block/internals. I believe that it has stronger internals right? Ill be safe up to 250 or 260 hp wont I???

One more thing, I hear you guys talking about fooling the map sensor, you can do that with just a "Grainger" or MBC can you? I dont want to use a zener, becuz I dont think I can put one in, I heard someone say a map bleed? OR, can I get my 87 glhs lm "burned" ??? ANd if so who here can burn a lm?

I think I'll take my chances wind see what happens. If it blows no big deal. I have a common block in my garage and I'm looking into getting another common block to start the 16V neon head swapn on. Thanks for all the good replies guys.

FWIW my turborismo has gone 80000km+ at 14-16psi (and 20+ at the track) on LW rods.. low to mid 14's 2750lb car puts is ~225 at the flywheel.

Turn up the boost and let er buck...... if it blows build it right!

Got a Lebarron converted to T2, G Head, stock rods and pistons ('85 block), ran 16 psi and the rods where fine...Its those dam* rod bolts that screwed everything up, Broke or sheared a bolt, crank came back around and smashed the be-jesus out of the rod.

Oh well, it was time to change out the rods/pistons/head setup ect.

Save yourself the trouble, replace your dam* rod bolts it you do anything. (Now have ARP wave-lok's installed and stretched just waiting for this weekend to get installed/assembled)

The '85 block is more prone to twisting at higher HP levels compaired to the common block., so no its not stronger.

Zener's are simple. Find the map sensor, look at the three wires. Take a volt meter (with the ign on), put the black lead (-) to the chasis, take the other lead and find the wire that gives you a 0 V on the meter. Next find the one that is ~5V and the last wire is the output of the MAP sensor. Take your Zener and carefully bend the legs at a 90 in relation fo the diode (make a U shape). Jam the zener in the map output and the 0 V wire portion of the MAP sensor connector. Make sure the polarities are correct. (Usually the diode will have a bar or a stripe going around it on one half. Make sure the leg closest to this stripe is connected to the MAP sensor output). Your done.

And yes, it is possible to mod the LM, I recommend that unless you have lots of experiance with electronis and programming that you let someone else do it!
