Has any one installed these rods into a newer 2.2 block? Their length is the same as TII/TIII rod's and so is the big end size (am I correct?)- so are they a direct bolt on? Any feedback from these rods, positive or negative is welcome.

The small end size is wrong I beleive. I'm not sure if the SRT-4 uses a different size wrist pin vs. the standard 2.4 Litre or not. When eagle initially released the rods for the 2.4 Litre engine I contacted them about using them in my TIII. They did not advise rebushing the small end to work with the 0.905 wrist pins I am using in my JE pistons and I did not want to have more pistons made to use with those rods so I just ended up keeping my stock TIII rods in the engine.

In all reality, the TIII rods are enough, just install a set of the ARP rod bolts and you'll be fine.

I will say that I have heard some horror stories about the eagle rods in other High Perf applications.
Seems sometimes their quality control is not the best.

Thanks for your info! That's good to know they adviced not to make the pin hole any bigger...because I'm going with Venolia's and .927" pins for my TIII.

So the stock TII/TIII rods w/ polished beams and ARP hardware rebushed to Chevy size pin will do fine in my case.

You should have no problem running that setup.

Well I'm building my TIII engine mostly for street use with stock parts except new Venolia pistons (original mahle's had excessive ring side clearance) and 3" exhaust. But later I may add some hi-po parts - hybrid turbo and better intercooler with a 3Bar cal. The stock rods are for sure strong enough initially. I wouldn't care to pull the engine and swap rods when the time is right for more power... I'd do it now during the rebuild.

Last year I was talking to a Finnish titanium engine parts manufacturer (Tylite) and asking how much it would cost to make rods, piston pins, valves etc. for these engines. If I then had placed an order of 16 rods minimum they would have made them for $375 a piece. Valves were priced at $50 each, minimum order of 100 pieces. I asked on rtml if there were enough interest to get them made, but nope...no enough serious buyers. I believe these rods would be ultimate for hi-revving big hp motors in street application.

Now I'm trying to find a good solution, without going bankrupt.
