Well I got a few offers for 2 different engines, both are complete.
One is a t2 the other is a t1 common block.
So the way I see it I have to choose betwen stronger rods or a stronger block. Which would u decide?

if you dont plan on running all that much boost or dont plan on going above 250 horsepower then get the t2.....its already got the forged crank and rods..... but is it an 88 or older?............ if its an 89 or above then its a common block and they are pretty tough................ if you wanna make a lot of power get the common block then buy some turbo 2 rods and get some mahls or venolias................

2.5 T1's come with the T2 rods stock, common block and a cast crank that you will never break. No one has ever broken a block from just plain HP.
A 2.5 will give you tons of torque but doesn't rev well past 5000. The 2.2 is opposite.

Yeah that common block is a 2.5 so ur saying it already has good rods! I have a heavy daytona so then the 2.5 is probably a better choice then huh? And is 100 dollars for a 118,000 mile short block (no head) a good deal for that 2.5 common block?

if its going in a daytona i say go for the 2.5........... makes more torque but like he said doesnt like to rev like a 2.2 and starts to fall off in power above 5 grand but would be better to get a heavier car like that going........ and yeah the 2.5 common block is a pretty stout piece............ only thing you would ever have to worry about is maybe going to stronger pistons if you wanna make a lot of power.............. bottom ends on these are pretty stout............ yeah as long as the long block is in good shape and didnt knock or nothing then thats a pretty good deal........... did you ever hear the motor run before it was pulled?.............

Ya, that's a great price as long as it's a complete bottom end. And you will need a 2.5 computer.

Ok I think I have a problem then. My daytona is an 86 and I just finished the t2 swap and I have been told that I need a glhs computer, but that computer is for a 2.2 right? So what computer would I have to use for a 2.5?

And thanks for all of your help!

you might be able to get some oversize injectors and fiddle with the fuel pressure to get it to work. or find a custom cal with a fuel and spark curve for a 2.5
