Most 94 engines you'll find will be 2.5's. Which isn't a biggie. The 2.5's work "ok", but not perfectly on 2.2 electronics.
BUT, all NA engine blocks are NOT drilled for the turbo oil drain, which means you're either drilling the block (what about shavings, what if you mess up, difficult location to drill, etc) or you are putting the drain into the oilpan somehow instead of the block. An "old" head will work on a "new" block just fine. If you have a G style head (84-85) it will lower the 8.9:1 (2.5) to 9.5:1 (2.2) compression ratio by not quite .5, which will be much more turbo friendly than just using a "swirl" head. The rods are the same as what would be in an 88 T1, the pistons are slightly weaker depending on who you ask.
Probably just easier to get another turbo engine.....
