ok i was just wondering what the various options are for after market and factory performance pistons i would also like to know if there are any pistons that can be used from other cars

i do plan on over boring my engine as much as i can i have a friend whos a machineist at the local speed shop whos gonna be doing all my machine work for me

i totally want forged pistons though also how about rods same deal what are my options there

iam not shure how crazy my build up is gonna be i guess as crazy as i can afford but i do want overkill cause i plan on driving my car around on weekends

oh also iam starting with an 89 2.5 common block iam gonna use a 2.2 t2 crank (forged)

Forged options are Venolia's through www.fwdperformance.com and JE's through www.forwardmotioninc.com I'm running Venolia's.
2.5L motors have different pistons than 2.2L's.
T2 rods are the same as 89 and up 2.5L ones.
I would build a 2.5 for the Lancer, more torque and more fun!!
I wouldn't bother boring the block more than you need, it doesn't make more power and it weakens the cylinder walls.

I though a 89 Common block used either 2.2 pistons or 2.5 that's why it's called Common block. I'm I wrong. The stock pistons I hear are pretty good people running 20+ psi. I don't know for sure I just melted a hole in #3 on a stock. Don't have your buddy bore the motor as BIG as he can go. I would do .020 over remember if he goes .040 from the get go if you ever need to bore again (motor blows) you have to get a new block. This is not a V8 go with 20 over and then you still have .030 and .040 left for the future. forged 4340 either JE or Venolia run $475 and your block has to match the piston. Cast piston run $100-$135 a set.
