okay here is the description: these are the +.400_ 6.525" _ rods
2.325 rod journal and the pin is .990 for 427 and 454 Chevrolet, but can be used in many combinations.

i realize that they are way longer than stock, they will be used in a tall deck motor. is the pin size way to big to be used on our sized pistons? how far off is the rod journal size? thanks, chris

Well the rod journal of our engines is 2.2" and the stock pin is .901". I'd say look for some different rods. You can always cut down the rod journal, but not many shops will wld in a lot of extra material.

wow, 2.2 to 2.5 is quite a difference. by the time i add in the difference to get the rods to bolt correctly and the additional pin size, i may as well stick with steel rods. thanks, chris

How tall of a deck are you building? What length of rod are you looking for?

I am looking for rod of the lengths 6.5 or 6.52. My deck I think will be 9.3. The deck number is off the top of my head because my notes are at home. I am going to use the tall-deck block if that helps at all. Thanks, Chris... I hope that this means you have a set sitting in your closet that you dying to get rid off. nudge, nudge

Stock deck height is 9.362". I do not have a set but may be able to help you in another way. What is your time frame? How much are you paying for aluminum rods and would you consider some aftermarket steel rods?

actually i would prefer steel rods just to get things going and to keep the cost down. first stage is to get the motor together and into the car. i don't really have an immediate time frame. the motor is still being planned and i have a ton of parts to still purchase. thanks, chris

Is this for a street car or drag only car? If for street, don't use aluminum rods!

yes it will be used for street but on limited miles. pretty much a strip car with a license plate zip tied on. regardless i will be looking towards titanium rods way down the road. dammit at 795 per rod, things start to get serious. so in the mean time steel looks like an easy alternative.
