I am going to be buying a pair of 2.2 TII Rods and Pistons to go into my 86 TI engine. I know the TII piston is different from the TI piston, and I was just wondering how the compression will be affected. I am using a stock 782 swirl head. Is there any cause for conern switching to TII rods and pistons on a TI engine?
Thanks

Your compression will not change, it's simply a floating pin rod rather than pressed pin, the pistons are otherwise identical.

The compression will not change, but the pistons are NOT identical. The TII pistons are made by Mahle and the TI pistons are not. They are the same design and are functionally identical, but not the same thing exactly.

As far as a cause for concern, no. The rods and pistons are both stronger than TI parts and will bolt right in and work just fine.

Well yeah they're not the same piston, TI's aren't floating pin, TII's are. That'd make them different pistons.

Right, but what I meant was that there are more differences than that. My whole point, although it may not have been clear, was that the TII is a tougher, better piston.

That is a lot of commas.

Note: edited for spelling, but left the commas.

OK, well the ones I pulled out of my '86 GLH did not have the Mahle name on them anywhere. I just assumed they put there name on all of the pistons they made. Hence, no name= no Mahle. Guess I shouldn't assume things though.
