lmk when you plan on running, ill be interested in checking it out, just for sh*#s and giggles and such. at least this time around ill know whats going on in the shortblock before hand. where before it was just trusting someone else.

yea, whos reeves?
Yeah but still, to have the cylinders out of round at such low miles is not something you can possibly do, maybe if you had 40,000 miles. I still would talk to them.

ive gone faster in my go cart than uve gone in ur car

and dont dish desktop dyno just cuz u cant do the formulas to set it up rt....also it jus so happens that i owen a chassis dyno and will so have it open to the public at my shop i would be willing to load it up and drive to ur house with it and let u dyno ur car on it and if u out down a better number than my car i wont charge u for the run...... but if all ur car runs is mid 11's u betta spend sum money and make it go a lil faster cuz ive ran 11.90's at well over 145mph with a crap tastivc 60 ft of 2.3, when i finish my tranny ill be posting my video doc of dyno runs and track runs that WILL BE DEEP INTO THE 10'S

i could be wrong, let me get to the shop then ill let ya know. i dont want to make any phone calls or point any fingers when i think its my fault.

go-carts? put it on the dyno and see whats goin on. that must have come from left field cause that briggs an stratton wont handle any boost!
sure ill take a free dyno! :thumbs up

wasnt sure what that had to do with stock piston psi?lol

block in shop, will know more on the bores in a few days. they did say that the block was not honed properly if at all. also the scuffing on the pistons(top and skirt) was from inproper piston to wall clearance. 900$ out the window, maybe they can cut me a deal on pistons, doubtful. ill talk to them when i have bore measurements. as i have the shop documenting everything!!

Glad your documenting everything, that way you have ammo to try and get something back or free pistons. Threaten to go to the newspapers, they hate that, lol.

yup, the cylinders were about 2 thousands out of round and 1-2 thousands tapered. going .020 over. wiseco is saying about 3-4 weeks on pistons. probably going w/ venoila. would like to see if vendor i got shortblock from would discount JE's. depends on how long to get. would like some track time this season, and re-do other block w/ JE's in meantime. any reasons not to go w/ venoila? i heard they were noisy when cold. its just that i have alot of parts to order and i figure if i get 'em all at one place, maybe i can get some knocked off the top.

Too many other issues to say for sure what the e.t. or mph will be. One car could fly one could not. Depends on the set-up and quirks. I know you have listed your set-up, but without running it?? If your 'tona is full weight, I'd say you will trap between 106 and 109. Good for lower 13's or possible (small chance) high 12's.

EGT s/b in the #4 runner about an inch from the head.

Too bad about the broken ring-landings, it sounds like detonation did them in. I am not a big fan of advancing the ignition as Forward Motion suggests, and, in a high boost application you sometimes want less ignition advance, not more! This is because you want the maximum cylinder pressure to occur while the piston is going down on the power stroke--too soon and the fast and furious combustion that occurs before TDC can induce the catastrophic death-knock, and once the damage is done--it's toast!

Just for the record, my '85 LeBaron GTS turbo (water-injected) is going to be rebuilt soon (hopefully as a TII upgrade). I passed the DEQ only to fail because of smoke. Anybody else have this happen? The smoke is completely subjective, the @#$%#@! but there is something going on--like excessive blow-by? I'll let you know if I broke my pistons!

im in lewis center, about 10 mi. south of delaware. i should have the pistons tomorrow, and hopefully block next week. day or two to get it back together. marion is where i plan on running it, only 1/4 mi. track thats close.

thanks ken. low 13's is what i was hoping on, full weight other than a/c and a few other small items(spare tire, jack ect.) pondering stripping inside, but dont know if i want to race it that often. im trying to keep it as orig. as possible. #4 you say? inch from head, so be it! prob. gonna do the wiseco on the next block(will be my back up), as they were talking 3-4 weeks on pistons. :big grin:

thanks for replys!!!
