I needed an engine for my stock car but I wasn't willing to put any money into it ,so I mixed and matched parts I had lying around. 89' N/A block complete with head, 88' T1 intake and exhaust manifolds , 46mm throttle body , mitsu turbo, 88' T1 injectors, 88' T2 smec and an A413 tranny. Now the question everyone wants answered. How long did it last ?

The Answer - 6 laps

It overheated badly and died. Took the head off and all four pistons were broken ,the top ring land came apart and the pieces destroyed the head.
Well, I won't be trying that again anytime soon !!!

The only thing that seems out of place in that combo are the injectors. I believe the 88 TI injectors were still 27pph, while your TII SMEC was expecting 33 PPH. That could certainly cause some bad things to happen by running too lean. Although I'm sure with the added compression it should have run like a banshee up till the end! Sorry to hear about your engine though.

88 na block and head complete. That meant NA pistons and exhaust valves that would have burned. That was the problem.
