It was kind of heavy to lift, but it disn't seem THAT heavy!
LS1's are aluminum blocks, ours are cast iron.

I'd say a pre-common cast crank shortblock weighs about 150. I think with the crate it's gonna be over the limit. It might be cheaper to strip everything, ship just the block and then the rest of the parts in a seperate box.

really aluminum weighs less?
My point was this small block that can't take decent power weighs so much? Where is it going? LOL
If I took it apart it would defeat the purpose of getting a longblock wouldn't it?
I agree, who cares if you can lift it,I want to ship it!!

OKOKOK!!!!! You got me! I am going out in the garage and weigh my friend's 2.2 common block shortblock. The shortblock is totally complete,fully machoined and assembled waiting for head, turbo and manifolds. It does have a cast crank in place of the T-IV forged unit, but everything else is T-IV status.

The answer is.... 168lbs. 1990 2.2 commonblock with stock bore mahles, common block 2.2 cast crank, NO balance shafts, 2.2 CB pan, fully assembled short block waiting for head.
