Well, I was really bored so I went out in the garage and weighed some stuff.
'89 commonblock std. bore with main caps and main bolts. 101#
aux. shaft 2.50#
tII con rods with stock bolts 6.20#
2.5l std bore mahle pistons with pins rings and clips 4.75#
oil pump w/o pick up tube 4.70#
I don't have the crank weights, but I think Russ does.
This scale is pretty accurate and has been verified with two other scales one of them a registered postal meter.

so you're talling me the block alone weighs 101#?!?! That's as much as an LS1 block which is like 3 times bigger!!
Cranks are like 46#
So a shortblock it like 160#?
It was kind of heavy to lift, but it disn't seem THAT heavy!

found it: http://hometown.aol.com/russjerome/pagehybridblock.html
cast crank 36#
forged crank 44#
these are both commonblock cranks.
I'd guess in the 155 to 170# range for a common, short block. Less with a non-common block. I thought I read that they are supposed to be about 13lbs lighter?

I've been tossing them around the garage and up on the engine stand with no problems. My back started tingling after I humped it onto the scale that's sitting on a tall workbench. It didn't start to hurt till I read the scale. It must be psychological thing.

I've lifted a complete 2.5 TI with a friend. Carried it from the back of a truck to the corner of the garage. It's not the weight, it's just a matter of getting a good grip on it.
Also about 2 weeks ago, me and another friend lifted a TI shortblock into the back of a truck with no trouble. And it's a lifted 4x4 so we were lifting to chest height.
