I have my rebuilt short block (from the Shadow) that I thought was sold, but that person lives in Hawaii, so the shipping will not be friendly. So looks like I am keeping the block.

So my question is to you, can I put it in my van with the swirl head?
Or does the van really need the 2.5 because of the weight?

Please remember, I tow with my van, it is my daily driver, and I love beating the crap out it from stop light to stop light.

Talk to me ol' wise men!

I'm just one man, so use the singlular form, please. heh...

The 2.5 is going to make more torque, which is going to be very welcomed in a heavy vehicle, and also when towing. If using a 2.2, you will end up increasing RPMs when driving around and towing, and might get into boost more than with the 2.5 when cruising.

There was a fellow on the FMML or the SDML a few years ago that started a pretty good thread about it. I looked for it but I didn't find it, but I remember someone speaking up that it was a poor idea, and that they wish they hadn't made the conversion.

i got my mini with 2.5 it had bad oil burner turbo so i swaped my old 88 2.2 t1 from my woody wag. i don,t tow but i run from light to light. it gets the same mileage as 2.5. now i,m running mish. with 3 inch exth. shifts at 5800 to 6100 seems to be screaming but only thing so far is t/c bolts came loose once.so till i get the guts to run at track i can,t tell by times. my only other 2.5 is in shadow vert with 5 speed and it,s freash 30mm over less than 5000. miles on it. it seem to run out of rpm, where 2.2 pulls longer but that might be because of auto, use same bleed on both 14 psi, the vans harder to stop over boost. the shadow has stock exth. but no muffler. so there thats all i,ve got to say, go for it. als :thumbs up
