Has anyone compared these blocks, as far as comparing weights?
If castings in Mexico are so much better, why are so many people illegally crossing the border into the U.S.? It boggles the mind!

I got a motor from an 89 Lebaron GTC TII car that has the C on it. Build date is also 10/88 I believe.

nimby. Not in my backyard. Aluminum foundries take a LOT of electric and I assume emit gasses. Canada built a foundry in southern Mo. because of a special cut rate on electric and tax incentives. Mopar had to build in Mexico because US companies don't get the incentives foreign companies do. It is just a more modern plant in Mexico.
If we gave the same breaks to US companies, they wouldn't move overseas so quickly.
Why do the Mixicans still cross the border? They get paid 10% of what Chrysler pays in the US.

not all stock turbo blocks were cross drilled,i thought the 88 t2s were the first to get the crossdrilled head or block

I think it has more to do with the bore location of cylinders. I saw a pic where the head gasket doesn't mate very well to the bores on some blocks. The bores with the old technology are not as precise as the new casting method. This would also affect thin spots in cylinders. Somebody had a post on the new casting method. It said the sand molds are computer made for each pour. Less chance for a bad casting. This should give better uniformity and strength with the same weight or even less.
