im in the process of rebuilding a 2.2l t1 block.....i had installed JE forged pistons w/ 2.5 t2 rods on a t1 crank....my concern is i was reading and The Mopar book aka the bible....and its saying that the 2.5 rod is slightly longer at (157.0mm) and the 2.2 rod is (151.mm) which is the center to center distance...........How will this effect my engine???

thanks in advanced

A longer connecting rod will make the piston go up higher and it wont go down as far. You will probably be lucky if the pistons dont hit the bottom of the cylinder head.

Only 2.5L TBI tall deck motors had longer rods. These were made 86-88 and only came in NA form. All the other 2.5L's have the same length rods as the 2.2L so it shouldn't effect your motor at all if they came from a turbo motor.

Well if it helps, the .3L difference is all in made through increased crank stroke. The reason the tall deck 2.5L NA motor had longer rods was because the deck height of the block was 12mm taller than all the other blocks.

Ignore that, it only applies to tall deck rods. You would know if you had tall deck rods because you would be amazed at how pathetic they are.

2.5 turbo rods are the same as 2.2 turbo rods, as previously stated.
