I am aware of that as I currently own one and seen several, and am installing another one in the very near future into a resto 86 GLHS. The owner wants a common block but wants it to look like the original block. How's that for trying to look original?
As far as I can tell, these early looking common blocks were warranty blocks for Turbo II applications that were manufactured after the common block was in production. All that I have seen, seem to have been cast in Mexico and have casting dates after 1988. Some of these strangely enough, came with cast cranks, but with the big rods.
These are fairly scarce in the US and Canada, I have never seen one in a TC car, and didn't want to confuse the original person (Scottie) asking the question. Anyone have one of these blocks with a pre-1988 casting?
