Is the 8-valve version a 2.2 common block? I know it is a daytona motor but 88t1/t2 block or 89 CB? I need to know soon

I just want to make sure. I know the motors were sent overseas to be installed in the cars in 88. So there are either early CB's or late non-CB's.

About half the 501 16v motors that made there way into TC's were early non-common block motors. I would not make any assumptions on 8v motors either. Better just look at the motor or if not possible, talk to someone and have them describe the block near the filter area.

just look at Gary's site.
pre-CB TIIs have the fuel pump block off plate, where CB motos are just flat there, since they were ALL EFI motors. There are other obvious differences as well!

Nothing to left of oil filter, just iron.
Non-common would have little block off plate.

there were some common blocks made with the fuel pump block off plate . I've owned 2 of them . So be carefull what you are calling. All common blocks have a straight rear pan rail. Where non common bocks have bumps where the pan bolts thread into.

I believe the early model TC's did not have the common block. It changed somewhere down the line.

Dag nabit that was the response I was gonna post.

The oil pan is the sure-fire way of telling what it is.
