I will have my 89 2.5 CB motor torn out of the donar car this thursday. It will be going into my 86 SC as a 2.2 CB. Once i get the motor torn down. i.e. bare block, head assembly, manifolds, ect. What do i do with the block. Take it and get it acid dipped? I know i have to take it to a machine shop and get it checked n such. If/When they have to bore it are they gunna need the new pistons to size the bores?

Pretty much what it comes down to is. Once the motor is stripped down what do i have to do to it before i can start assembling it in its new race form? what do i have to get done and what is the sop gunna need to ensure the job is done right?

Ive raced quads for 10 years and always done the motors, but never a car. And seeing as i will have a lot of money in this engine i want to take every precaution to make sure it goes together right. Any good places in north east Ohio or western PA to take it to get the work done that you will list?

thanks

nate

You'll want to take the block, crank, rods down to the machine shop. You should take the head down also unless you're planning on getting a ported unit from a vendor. Have them measure everything and determine the needed work. You can take the pistons off the rods at home since they are full loating pins. See this thread for more info: need some help
