i know this has been talked about before, but. i dropped of some main caps at the machine shop today and he ran them though his digitizer. he is getting me a price to make a set of them out of 1010 cold drawn steel. he said since it will be in the computer program it would be easy to make as many sets as needed. anyone interested ?
also talked about a girdle to tie all the main caps together, like in the pic.

Would these be for common blocks, or non-common blocks, or both?

Hello xjjunkie,
What have you come up with on the main caps and girdle? Those are parts that I can make for you as we have done very similar parts for the tractor pull market. I was browsing and saw a girdle at www.haisleymachine.com I thought it very was cheesy looking to say the least. You can see some of the parts we do at www.murphysmotorservice.com We have done billet caps in steel and ductile iron, we have pics of some iron ones that we need to upload to the site. Let me know if I can help.

would or could these billet main caps have more bolts than the stock ones? I think the stock main caps are 4 bolt-that would mean 6 or 8 bolt mains. This would be a good thing, make the mains even more firm, right? or would it simply be a waste?

The 4 bolt mains are not in our on line catalog yet, so you will need to call and ask. We also sell the equal length header set-up from SMPerformance that is used on Stephane's car. That isn't on the website yet, but will be shortly.
Thanks,
Cindy
