Hi, I have a short block I am looking at to buy out of a 89 CSX-VNT. I need to know if the crank has the gear set up to use with balance shafts. The seller say the engine doesn't have the shafts and isn't sure if it has the pully/gear on the crank for use with balance shafts. How can they look to tell????

Also Just to double check from memory the 90 vnt's like my lebaron gtc w/vnt has a 2.2 TIV which is basically a CB 2.2 T2 with balance shafts right??? I am prety sure I saw shafts when I changed the oil pump a while back!!!???

The short block will go in my VNT as bad rod knock in it now, but I like how smooth the 2.2 is with balance shafts as I drove a T1 for a while and it was a little more rough and then I got an R/T and was great, and then the vnt was also great!!!!

Thanks, Seth

The 89 cranks from a CSX do not have the holes for balance shafts, but they are forged.
