J.E. recomends .0035" total clearance for thier .020" (3.465") over Forged pistons. That is .00175" clearance for each side of the piston. Yes, they do move a little. You also must take into consideration that some of that movement is diagonal movement and may seem to be alot of movement wall to wall.
